“I would love to see a plan to shift lower body fat for us pear shaped chicks who get lean on top weeks or even months before the lower body is even close.”

Oh I bet you would! Unfortunately almost every single female I have ever worked with has been predisposed to fat storage in the hips and thigh region.

Think about it if you carry more fat in your lower body than your upper body, where do you think you will see the most result when your body fat starts to decrease?

Well, the upper body of course since it didn’t have as much fat to begin with- in the first place.

I know a lot of you won’t like this answer but you can’t spot reduce fat through training or nutritional protocol.

The only ways to spot reduce fat is through liposuction or by the application of topical solution. Liposuction is very effective and you will definitely see huge results as long as you don’t mind waiting several months for the swelling to go down.

However any topical solution should only be used to polish off an already lean area of the body and put the finishing touches on a well chiseled physique.

Now let’s step back for a minute and take a look at the bigger picture. If you carry a lot of blubber in that caboose of yours then by simply recruiting the gluteus during training will improve myogenic tone and even educe some muscle soreness.

No, you won’t be able to see any muscle tonus because of the thick layer of fat but you will be able to feel a more firm set of taters underneath all the padding.

So although you can’t spot reduce body fat in a particular through training or nutritional means you can recruit and activate the muscle underneath the fat, resulting in a tighter body part and even slightly improve the appearance.

Transformation Contest Redux Champion!

Monday, February 15th, 2010 at 7:42 am

Dennis Levinge struggled to pack on muscle his entire life but at age 39 he enrolled himself in Wet Wolf Training programs combined with the Oscillating Macronutrient Eating Pattern and was able to defy all logic and pack on 13 pounds of rock solid muscle in under 12 weeks!
His prize is contest preperation at no cost, for his first show ever on April 12th. I am very excited to see the polished finished product that he delivers when he steps on stage.

Here is what Dennis had to say about the transformation program:
“I have been lifting weights for over 20 years and am a certified personal trainer. I have tried countless meal plans and workout programs that you can find in any muscle magazine and have blown away rediculous amounts of money on supplements to see very little gain, if any. I have done Wet Wolf’s nutrition and workout program 100% and have noticeably changed the way I look and increased my strength levels in 60 days, including a 13 pound weight gain in the second 4 week program. I do not claim this is 13 lbs of pure muscle but it is undoubtedly “good” weight and my body remains under 10%.

What I was doing before had me in decent shape but I was not making the gains I wanted because I was like 90% of gym guy’s and was over training! Too many sets and exercises per body part, to include training the wrong body parts together. Not to mention not getting the proper nutrition.

I would recommend Wet Wolf’s program to any “know it all” gym guy and if given 100% there is no way you will not see huge results for less money than you spend taking countless supplements that do not do what they claim.

I would challenge ANY person to do WW programs for 60 days and guarantee you will see FAR more results than ANY program you can find in any “musclehead” magazine.

My wife and I have both been on custom nutrition and training programs and have both seen trememdous transformations, WW’s programs DO work!!”

Extraordinary work Dennis, 2010 is going to be a ground breaking year for you!

Metabolic Meltdown Training is the antithesis of steady state long duration cardio.

It is the NEW Science of Fat loss and the only program ever developed that can add myogenic tone to your muscles while stripping off bodyfat.

No weight lifting required for this program.

The secret of the Metabolic Meltdown Training is that is recruits the same musculature used in sprinting, jumpping and lifting but without actually lifting any weights.

Behold: The Oscillating Macronutrient Eating Pattern

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 at 1:52 pm

Behold: The Oscillating Macronutrient Eating Pattern

By Wet Wolf

Several years ago the holy grail for the competition junkie seeking rapid fire fat loss in the form of dietary bliss was felt by the sudden impact of the carb rotation diet. Gurus popped up everywhere claiming to offer you the golden ticket to join them in their esoteric pursuit of adipose destruction.

I remember way back in 2002 was the first time I ever used a carb rotation diet. It was a pleasant surprise from the same measurements of carbs on the same meals every single day.

It was a four day carb rotation that would run in cycles of repeating its self. After two cycles through I would weigh myself and re-calculate my new macronutrients based off of my new body weight. Seems like a good strategy, right? I mean after all you want to take into account any new changes in your bodyweight so that the proper macronutrient adjustments can be made for the upcoming two cycles. By readjusting your macros based on your bodyweight, this pushed the fat loss envelope forward more and more with each pressing week leading up to the finish line.

The unique thing about the diet was that after one moderate and then two very low carb days you were allowed to jack up your carbohydrate intake two times your body weight.

This burst of insulin inducing glucose revved up leptin levels and sent my metabolism through the roof! It totally replenished muscle glycogen stores and had me ready for the next four day cycle.

Believe me when I tell you that I really had to enjoy this hormonal high. Because the next day my carbohydrate intake was slashed in half and before you try to convince yourself that its all smooth sailing for the final two days of the cycle the carbs are slashed in half again for the final forty eight hours.

So with the hormonal cascade or lack there of, initiated by the trickeration of carbohydrates combined with the ongoing function of constant monitoring of bodyweight scale adjustments this nifty diet protocol seemed to have all the bases covered!

Well, as you all know, things aren’t as they seem.

So now with a full description of the famous carb rotation diet before us, let’s take a minute and look at all of the pitfalls.

1) Macro ratios based off body weight instead of lean mass.

First of all the ratios of the macros for the diet were all based off of body weight. So if we have two individuals who both stand 5’6” and both weigh 150 pounds. Yet one has 12% Body fat and the other is 32% body fat, then something’s gotta give!

Let me explain. I mentioned that on day number one of the carb rotation cycle you were allotted two times your bodyweight, not your lean mass, not your perceived ten percent body fat mark, but two times your entire bodyweight. So if you are a track and field athlete with 12% body fat who is busy running sprints and high jumps then your body would partition that tsunami of sugars like another day in lane three.

However if you were sitting at a fat and happy 32% body fat, then it’s an entirely different ball game. Remember, our two hypothetical examples are both 150 pounds. So can you imagine what would become of the young lady who ate 300 grams of carbs! I don’t care if every gram of carbs is from organic steamed brown rice or rolled oats, her body would suck up that excess of carbs like a sponge!

2) Protein stays the same every day

On the higher carb days as well as the lower carb days the protein always stayed cemented in place. On days that you sky rocket your carbs you aren’t going to need quite as much protein to preserve your muscles.

Same thing goes on days that your carb intake plummets. You are going to need a hefty dose of protein to compensate for that drop in carbs.

3) Fats never eaten on high carbs days

A striking trend that the carb rotation diets tend to follow is the annihilation of almost all carbs on the high protein high fat days, however on the other side of the coin the moderate to high carb days are void of any healthy fats.

I see this as a potential issue that can hinder the progress of glycogen replenishment , nutrient portioning and even fat loss. You see omega-3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA can actually increase insulin receptor site sensitivity. What this means is that when you do eat a high carb day the receptor sites in the muscles cells will offer a marked response to the surge of insulin and provide a more profound uptake of blood glucose into the muscles.

Flameout the only fats in the world that go good with carbs!

4) Not gender specific

One alarming trend that I have gathered over the years is that for the most part females tend to do better on lower percentages of carbs then do males. I have worked with some females who thrive off of as little as 1/3 cup oats on weight lifting days and are still able to preserve strength gains while melting off body fat, others may need a day consisting of 100 grams of carbs just for life support.

5) Not Somatotype specific

Possibly the most important component of all is the somatotype of the individual. An endomorph will always require a lower intake then an ectomorph or mesomorph. The naturally higher body fat set point of our endomorphic friends isn’t going to melt off all by its self. We are going to need to manipulate every single facet of the eating pattern possible in order to coerce those stubborn layers of blubber from the body.

Before you think you have it all figured out if you happen to get a little too brave and yank out those carbs and fats from underneath your bib then get ready to watch those muscles deflate faster then a birthday balloon from Bozo the Clown.

I have seen meso-endo hybrids respond totally different to an eating pattern from a pure endo, so understanding the correct application of macro placement congruent with different somatotypes is crucial.

A great example of this was when Jen greven came in for an evaluation. I took one look at her daily macro numbers and they were an appalling two hundred sixty six grams of protein, one hundred fifty five grams of carbs and seventy five grams of fat. Every single day.

She was following a contest preparation diet for an up coming show but had hit a stubborn plateau with her current training and diet programs.

I immediately put her on my oscillating macronutrient eating patter. The first week she lost three pounds of fat and five weeks later she had lost twelve pounds of fat and added over three pounds of muscle.

Now, are you ready for a paradigm shift?

She followed one of my customized training programs along with my customized Oscillating Macronutrient Eating Pattern and immediately busted through the plateau she was stuck on with her former program.

She did all this by cutting back her time in the gym. Gone were the two hour weight lifting sessions, gone were the never ending treadmill walks.

Now when she entered the gym she had very intense, focused weight lifting sessions that recruited all her muscle fibers and also spiked her metabolism through the roof.

Quick hitting metabolic drills and brief early morning sprints incinerated her body fat away.

In the end she had her leanest physique ever.

She isn’t the only person who made immediate and Drastic changes on the program but her meteroic transformation was the fastest I had ever seen.
